A case of firing has come to light in the campus of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU). Here today i.e. on 24th July, two employees were fired upon. After the incident, AMU security personnel have caught the two attackers. Both the employees injured in the firing have been admitted to the medical college. Their treatment is going on.

Panic spread in Aligarh district of Uttar Pradesh today i.e. on Wednesday due to the firing incident. After a minor dispute in the medical colony of Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), firing took place between the employees posted in the Registrar's office. Two employees have been injured due to the bullet shots. The injured employees have been admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College for treatment. Police officers are present in the medical college along with the force. Information about the incident is being taken.

The incident took place in Civil Lines police station area. AMU proctor Professor Mohammad Wasim Ali said- Injured Nadeem and Kaleem were leaving the AMU campus when the attackers shot them. Kaleem and Nadeem are brothers. Both are posted in the Registrar's office. The attackers are yet to be identified. But they are neither students nor employees of the university. People have said that 5 rounds of bullets were fired. The motive behind the incident is not known. The attackers are being questioned.

Such incidents have happened before

Similar incidents have happened in AMU before. In 2018, there was a firing incident in the campus' RM Hall in which two students, who were brothers, were injured. A case was registered with the police based on the complaint of the victims. The attackers were allegedly demanding extortion of Rs 3 lakh from other students. When the demand was not met, the attackers attacked them with knives and gun butts. It was also alleged that the attackers tried to forcibly involve some students in the protest over the Jinnah controversy and shot them when they refused.

Firing in AMU canteen last year

In September last year, there was an incident of firing in Jawaharlal Nehru (JN) Medical College of AMU. The attackers were allegedly demanding weekly payment from the canteen operator. When the operator refused, the attackers opened fire. This incident took place outside the canteen near the special ward of Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College, which spread panic among the people present there. More than half a dozen bullets were fired, in which a woman was injured. It is being told that there have been disputes and firing on the issue of canteen earlier also.
