Udaybhan Karvariya, son of Bhukkal Maharaj alias Vashisht Narayan Karvariya, who was once a mafia don in Prayagraj and a former MLA, has been released from jail. The government has pardoned his sentence in view of his good conduct. He is such a strongman that even Atiq Ahmed was afraid of him.
Former MLA and strongman Udaybhan Karvariya
It was the month of August in the year 1996 in Prayagraj (then Allahabad). There was a lot of hustle and bustle outside the Palace Theater in Civil Lines. At that very time, SP MLA Jawahar Yadav arrived in his Maruti car. He had just stopped there when a van coming from behind overtook his car. Before Jawahar Yadav could understand anything and get out of the car and do something to defend himself, a young man coming out of the van started firing indiscriminately. At that time, the people of Allahabad had seen such a weapon for the first time, which fires indiscriminately.
The perpetrator of this crime was none other than Udaybhan Karvariya, who was an MLA from Bara in Allahabad. The same Udaybhan Karvariya, whose father and sand mafia Bhukkal Maharaj once ruled Allahabad. Police claim that AK47 was used here for the first time in the criminal history of Allahabad. Three people were killed in this incident and in this case, Udaybhan Karvariya, his brother and former MP Surajbhan Karvariya were sentenced to life imprisonment.
Even police officers were afraid of Udaybhan's father
Since Udaybhan Karvariya's sentence has been pardoned by the grace of the state government a day ago and he has come out of jail, it is natural to take a look at his crime horoscope as well as political history. Udaybhan Karvariya has inherited the criminal legacy from his father. His father Bhukkal Maharaj was such a feared person in Allahabad that even the biggest businessmen would tremble on hearing his name. The extent of his fear can be gauged from an incident of the year 1981.
Bhukkal Maharaj was a big mafia of Purvanchal
At that time, Home Minister of BP Singh government in Uttar Pradesh Chaudhary Naunihal Singh went to meet SSP Haridas Rao of Allahabad. When he identified the young man accompanying him as Bhukkal Maharaj to the SSP, the SSP expressed his gratitude towards Naunihal Singh. He said that it was only because of his kindness that he was able to see the face of the biggest criminal. This meeting made headlines in the newspapers at that time. However, when the then CM BP Singh got the news of this meeting, he not only suspended the SSP, but also took away the Home Ministry from Minister Chaudhary Naunihal Singh and asked him to look after the Education Department.
Father Bhukkal Maharaj could not get entry in politics
After this incident, mafia don Bhukkal Maharaj alias Vashisht Narayan Karwaria tried his luck in politics. He contested elections thrice as an independent candidate from Allahabad (North) and Allahabad (South), but lost. Bhukkal Maharaj was also the criminal guru of Purvanchal's mafia don Atiq Ahmed. Later, Atiq Ahmed killed Bhukkal Maharaj and took over the illegal business of sand mining from the Yamuna ghats, real estate, government contracts, etc.
Udaybhan Karvariya became MLA for the first time in 2002
After the murder of Bhukkal Maharaj, his son Uday Bhan Karvariya fulfilled his father's dream by winning from Bara seat in 2002. Uday Bhan Karvariya won again in 2007 on a BJP ticket. Following in his father's footsteps, Uday Bhan also adopted the path of crime and became a rival of Atiq. This rivalry grew so big that Atiq Ahmed started fearing him. He even tried his best to avoid coming in the way of Uday Bhan Karvariya.
Jawahar murder case suppressed due to political influence
After entering politics, Udaybhan Karvariya used his political influence to suppress the Jawahar murder case. Due to this, there was no progress in this case during the subsequent governments of Kalyan Singh, Ramprakash Gupta, Rajnath Singh and Mayawati. However, when Akhilesh Yadav became CM for the first time, Jawahar Yadav's wife met him and asked him to intervene in this matter. After this, the police tightened the noose around Udaybhan Karvariya and his brothers Kapil Muni Karvariya and former MP Surajbhan Karvariya. As a result, all of them surrendered and in the year 2015, they were sentenced to life imprisonment. Since then, all of them were lodged in Naini Central Jail of Prayagraj for 8 years, 3 months and 22 days.
