According to the district superintendent of police Bhanupada Chakraborty, Ramuhai Reang, 40, and his 14-year-old son, along with other locals from the Kanchanpur subdivision, often went to the neighboring state for farming.

He told that on Friday afternoon, the Mizoram Police opened fire on the father and son. The reason behind the firing is not yet clear. He said that the Mizoram Police claims that both owned narcotics while coming to the state.

Chakraborty told that during this incident, Ramuhai managed to escape from there and enter Tripura, but his son was taken into custody by the Mizoram Police. He said, 'We have come to know that the boy is being treated at the hospital in Aizawl. Now his condition is stable. Ramuhai is being treated at Dharmanagar Hospital in the district.
Security forces deployed on state borders
The SP said that a case has been registered at Wangmun police station and investigation is on. Additional forces have been deployed along the inter-state border, where the situation is tense but under control.
