Addressing the nation on Friday morning, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the Union government would withdraw the three agriculture laws. As soon as this announcement was made, an atmosphere of happiness prevailed in Punjab. Punjab became the headquarters in the agitation against agricultural laws.

On the other hand Punjab Congress President Navjot Sidhu termed it as a victory of farmers' organizations, though even today he did not shy away from advising the Punjab government.

Sidhu tweeted that repealing the black laws was a step in the right direction. The Satyagrahi of Kisan Morcha has achieved historic success. The benefit of their sacrifice has been reaped. Reviving agriculture in Punjab through a roadmap should be a top priority of the Punjab Government.

Joginder Singh Ugrahan, President, Bhartiya Kisan Union Ugrahan, said that the statement of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the media was true but it should have happened earlier. The Prime Minister should deal with the farmers by deciding the electricity bill and MSP in their favor. He said that it was a victory of farmers' struggle. Recalling the martyred farmers, he said that his organization would continue its struggle for the protection of the interests of the farmers.
