Cases of delta variants of the coronavirus are increasing rapidly in China. In such a situation, China has come under tension. There is a lockdown in three cities of the country. The government will soon start corona vaccination for children above the age of 3 years.

Local city and provincial-level governments in five provinces have issued notices in recent days announcing that children aged 3-11 years will be vaccinated against corona. The National Health Commission said that 35 new cases of local transmission have been reported during the last 24 hours, out of which four are in Gansu. Another 19 cases were found in the Inner Mongolia region, while the rest were recorded from across the country.

China has completely vaccinated 76 percent of its population. Meaning that in China, both doses of the corona vaccine have been given to 76 percent of the eligible people. China approved two vaccines in June. These were to be applied to children aged 3-17 years.

The vaccines that have been approved include Sinopharm and Sinovac. Sinopharm was produced by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products, while Sinovac was produced by the Wuhan Institute of Biological Products. But people above 12 years of age were vaccinated through these vaccines.

After the approval of the vaccine for children in China, foreign governments started giving injections to children in their countries as well. Cambodia is administering both Sinovac and Sinoform vaccines to children aged 6-11 years. Regulators in Chile approved Sinovac for children under the age of 6. Regulators in Argentina have also approved the Sinoform vaccine for children under the age of 3.
