The construction of this defense shield is being considered as an important success in the direction of the 'Make in India' project in the defense sector. Till now, the Indian Army used to buy clothes used in very high altitude areas from abroad. The clothes with this special protective cover are issued to the soldiers stationed at a temperature below 50 degrees below zero (Extreme Cold Weather Situation).

Features of the defense shield
The clothes made by DRDO are worn in three layers and are worn comfortably at temperatures ranging from 15 degrees to minus 50 degrees. These special fabrics have been made waterproof and windproof to protect against snowfall and strong icy wind in the upper reaches of the Himalayas.
Wearing these, every part of the body can be easily moved and there is no obstruction in it. Wearing only one layer can work in a 15-degree temperature while with all three layers one can comfortably withstand the cold of minus 50 degrees. In this way, different layers can be worn according to the need.

These clothes do not allow bacteria to grow, so there is no need to wash them. Dr. Rajiv Varshney, director of DRDO's lab DIPAS, which designed these clothes, said that in designing the clothes, along with preventing the body heat from going out, care has also been taken to prevent the body heat from going out so that the duty is worn by wearing it for a long time. Do not get tired of the soldiers. Their special hood protects the face from frost in severe winter and also from snowfall.

Their weight has been kept low according to the demand of the army so that the soldier does not have to put extra pressure while doing his duty. Their cost is less than the clothes imported from abroad and this will save a lot of foreign exchange.
