Now only a few days are left for the end of the year 2023. The new year will begin in a few days. This year is about to end. In such a situation, this year the Government of India gifted a scheme called Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana to crores of farmers and craftsmen of the country. This scheme was launched by the Central Government on September 17, 2023 on the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti. Under this scheme, the government is providing financial assistance to the craftsmen and artisans of the country. The benefits of Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana are given to traditional artisans like carpenters, goldsmiths, sculptors, blacksmiths and potters. 30 lakh traditional artisans get the benefit of this scheme. The aim of the Government of India is to promote small and micro industries under this scheme.
Many craftsmen and artisans across the country are registering themselves under this scheme through the Common Service Center using the biometric based PM Vishwakarma portal.
Under Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, beneficiaries get an amount of Rs 15,000 in advance to purchase the toolkit. Apart from this, a loan of Rs 1 lakh is also available without any guarantee under the scheme. Very low interest rates are charged on the loan.
Under this scheme, the government is also giving training to artisans and craftsmen. Through this scheme, the government wants to promote self-employment in the country.
To apply for this scheme, beneficiaries must have some documents. This includes documents like Aadhar card, identity card, residence certificate, mobile number, caste certificate, bank account passbook, passport size photo etc.
