In a reply in the Lok Sabha in August, the government said, a maximum number of women are employed in the army, overall 11414 women are deployed in the three armies. If medical, dental, and nursing services are excluded, the number of women personnel working in the three forces is 4,948.
Women's participation in all three armies
According to the information shared by the Defense Ministry, as of January 1, there are 1,733 women officers in the Army and 100 women personnel are working in other ranks. If we talk about the Indian Air Force, the number of women officers in it is 1,654. Women's participation in the Navy has also increased continuously. Here 580 women are working as officers and 726 women are working as sailors (Agniveer).
Participation in the medical field
According to the data shared, 1,212 women are serving in the Army Medical Corps and 168 and 3,841 women are serving in the Army Dental Corps-Military Nursing Service. Similarly, in the Navy, there are 151 women in the Medical Corps, 10 in the Dental Corps and 380 in the Nursing Service. Similarly, the number of women in the Medical Corps of the Indian Air Force is 274, five in the Dental Corps, and 425 in the Military Nursing Service.
