The most important thing you can do to lose weight and be healthy is to get proper treatment for your hypothyroidism.

However, making some dietary changes can help promote weight loss success. Losing weight is never easy, but women who have hypothyroidism under control, do not have to struggle more than anyone else to lose weight.

Do not take these foods into the diet

  • Since soybeans contain estrogen and generally disrupt the functioning of the thyroid gland.
  • Vegetables like cabbage and broccoli are not considered good to eat during hypothyroidism.
  • Fatty foods like cheese, butter, and junk food should be avoided in hypothyroidism, as they easily lead to weight gain.
  • Too much caffeine damages the normal production of the thyroxine hormone.
  • It is not advisable to take seeds like flaxseed in high quantity during hypothyroidism.

Include these fruits in the diet

  • Apples are rich in healthy fibre and vitamins like Vitamin C.
  • Fruits like berries and strawberries are recommended as they are rich in anti-oxidants good for the thyroid gland.
  • Because oranges are rich in vitamin C. Hence it is advised to take them to lose weight.
  • Pineapple is rich in Vitamin C and contains bromelain enzyme which helps more in the process of weight loss.
