UIDAI, the organization that makes the Aadhaar card, has taken a big decision from updating the details of the Aadhar card. UIDAI is asking people to update their biometric details every 10 years. However, UIDAI has said that it will encourage people to update their biometric data on their own voluntarily.

According to a report, officials have said that the government will over time encourage people to update the face and fingerprint scans linked to their Aadhaar cards. People over the age of 70 will reportedly be exempted from this rule.

At present, children in the age group of five to 15 years are required to update their biometrics. Aadhaar enrollment of children below the age of five years is done based on the facial photograph of the child, and biometric authentication of the parent or guardian.

Citing official sources, PTI reported that UIDAI will encourage people to voluntarily update their biometrics and demographic data once in 10 years. This may prompt people to update their Aadhaar over time.
