Sore Throat Cure: On the onset of cough and cold, there is often a gradual pain in the throat at first. Every morning it feels like something is stuck in the throat. Soreness and burning do not allow eating or drinking anything. Viral infection is the most common cause of sore throat and it can be cured with some medicines. In such a situation, doctors recommend gargling with salt water at home and asking to eat such things which do not allow this problem to increase.

Ayurveda expert Dr Diksha Bhavsar Salvia says, 'It is known as 'Haridra' in Ayurveda. It is bitter and pungent in taste and hot in nature. Due to its hot nature, it helps to reduce Vata and Kapha, while its bitter taste allows it to balance pitta to some extent. We use turmeric for the treatment of cold, cough, sore throat, wound healing, diabetes, body aches, arthritis, immunity, reducing inflammation and many other disorders.

Main causes of sore throat

The causes of a sore throat range from infection to injury. Let us tell you about those reasons.

  • 1. Cold, flu and other viral infections- This is very common and can be caused by the common cold, influenza as well as infections like mumps, and chickenpox.
  • 2. Strep throat and other bacterial infections- Bacterial infections can also cause a sore throat. The most common is strep throat, which is caused by Group A Streptococcus bacteria in the throat and tonsils.
  • 3. Allergies- Sometimes pollen, pets or dust etc. trigger an allergy to someone. If there is such an allergy, then along with pain in the throat, watery eyes (remedy to get rid of watery eyes ), sneezing etc.
  • 4. Dry air- Dry air or dry air also causes sore throat. Dry air sucks the moisture out of your mouth and throat and the throat becomes dry.
  • 5. Chemicals- Many different chemicals present in the environment such as chemicals present in air pollution, cleaning agents, air fresheners etc. also irritate the throat.

Gargle with turmeric water

Turmeric water gargle provides relief for sore throat and pain. Turmeric reduces inflammation and provides relief from itching, burning and pain.

Ingredients required-

  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 glass of water

How to make and use-

  • Heat a glass of water and add turmeric to it and boil it for 3 to 5 minutes.
  • Gargle with this turmeric water thrice a day.

Consume Turmeric, Black Pepper and Honey

All these three things relax the throat. It fights infection and if you have a cough, you will get a lot of relief in that too.

Ingredients required-

  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 1 crushed black pepper

How to make and use-

  • Put these three things in a small bowl and mix well.
  • Eat this prepared mixture 1 hour before or after meals throughout the day.

Turmeric milk

Due to its antiviral and antibacterial properties, it is an effective remedy for relieving cough, cold and sore throat. This increases the production of mucus which flushes out germs from the respiratory system.

Ingredients required-

  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • pinch of salt
  • 1 glass cow's milk

How to make and use-

  • First, heat cow's milk and take it out in a glass.
  • Now add a pinch of salt and fresh turmeric and mix it. You can also add fresh raw turmeric tightly to the milk while boiling it.
  • Mix it with a spoon and drink warm milk before sleeping at night.
