Only a few days are left for the festival of Diwali. Preparations are going on in full swing. There is a lot of purchasing of crackers, lamps and candles. However, Diwali may pose difficulties for asthma patients. The smoke emanating from firecrackers can be fatal for asthma patients. In such a situation, asthma patients can keep themselves safe during this period by adopting these tips.

How should asthma patients take care of themselves during Diwali?

Avoid going out

The air quality is already bad, while the pollution increases even more due to the burning of firecrackers during Diwali, hence you should avoid going out in this environment. One should avoid going to markets, crowded places and fairs. Because small particles present in the air enter the lungs and airways, your respiratory problems may increase.

Hold inhaler

Asthma patients should strictly keep their medicines and inhalers with them on the occasion of Diwali. If you accidentally come in contact with pollution and have an attack, then this inhaler is effective in preventing the attack from increasing.

Avoid bursting crackers

Asthma patients should avoid bursting crackers. Smoke from firecrackers such as carbon dioxide and sulfur oxide can aggravate allergic conditions which can also be fatal for asthma patients.

Stay hydrated

Asthma patients should keep themselves hydrated all the time. Liquids immediately remove the toxic substances reaching your body. This significantly reduces the risk of allergy.

Keep wearing a mask

If you go out of the house or go to the terrace, then go only with a mask on your face. With this, you can protect yourself from pollution.

Stay away from sweets and alcohol

You should avoid consuming too many sweets on the day of Diwali. Apart from this, drinking alcohol should also be avoided. These drugs can trigger asthma attacks.
