What are Thyroid eye disease symptoms?
Thyroid eye disease is caused by an overactive thyroid or hyperthyroidism. Due to this, the immune system starts attacking the muscles and other tissues around the eyes. Thyroid eye disease can cause problems like swelling and prolapse of the eyes. All these problems are caused by an autoimmune reaction. The autoimmune attack targets the connective tissue inside the eye socket. Symptoms of this eye disease can range from mild to severe. In many cases, there is a risk of vision loss. There are very few cases which take a serious form. To avoid this disease, thyroid patients should get their eyes checked from time to time.

- Pain and swelling around the eyes
- The eyes appear wide and bulging.
