The rule will be applicable from October 2022

Already open accounts will continue


Let us tell you that those who have already opened an account, will continue to get benefit from this scheme. If the Atal Pension Yojana account is opened after October 1, and if that person is already paying income tax, then his account will be closed.

Who can take advantage of this government scheme
Any citizen of India between the age of 18-40 years can take advantage of this. If you also want to take advantage of a pension, then you can open an account in it. Apart from this, in this scheme, you get the benefit of tax exemption under section 80CCD of Income Tax.

Where can I open an account?
The central government had earlier started this scheme keeping in mind the people working in the unorganized sector but then given its popularity, the government opened it to all the people from 18 years to 40 years. To join this scheme, you can open an account from a bank or post office.

4 crore people are taking advantage of the scheme
This scheme (APY) was launched in the financial year 2015-16. This scheme was started especially for those people who are not able to take benefit of any other government pension. In only 6 years, this scheme has benefited about 4 crore people.
