The Tesla Cybertruck is the world's most awaited electric vehicle (EV) and its delivery timeline has stretched for almost four years. This could be considered a very long wait for an EV in which the company's CEO is showing interest, which is not normally seen. Whether there is any surprise or even much criticism, everyone generally agrees that there is still a lot left to prove and achieve for both Cybertruck and Elon Musk.

Musk is the richest person in the world. And his personality is mainly formed by the rise and spread of Tesla across the world. This is the Austin-headquartered company that has, so to speak, left carmakers with decades of legacy in their dust. Because its electric vehicles are running at the top of the sales charts. What the iPhone and Apple are to the smartphone world, the Model 3, Model Y, and Tesla are perhaps to the elite of the EV world. But while Apple has taken a very careful approach with each new version of its iPhone, the Cybertruck is far ahead of any other Tesla car and, indeed, any other vehicle anywhere in the world.

Tesla currently offers EVs like Model S, Model 3, and Model Of these, two are electric sedans and the remaining two are electric SUVs. Now Cybertruck has also joined its family. Which is Tesla's first electric pick-up. But there is no vehicle like it anywhere else.

The Cybertruck was first showcased to the world in 2019. This was the time when disasters like Covid-19 did not happen in the real world and events like Musk taking over Twitter and naming it 'X' did not happen in the virtual world. Certainly, Musk was in the top-10 list of richest people at that time. But even in later years, he managed to achieve this crown. He did a lot during these years. But they could not meet the promised delivery deadline of the Cybertruck. Nearly 20 lakh customers had booked at least one unit and have been waiting for it since then.

It is not that Cybertruck is liked everywhere. Its design has often been described in the past as unimaginative and its engineering potentially promiscuous. This Tesla vehicle divides public opinion like few other vehicles in recent memory. Love and hate are likely to be as much a part of the Cybertruck's legacy as they already are of Musk's.

At a special event in the US on Thursday, a total of 10 Cybertruck units will be handed over to people who are likely to be Tesla employees. However, reports suggest that Tesla is planning to complete 10,000 deliveries by the end of December. In 2024, Cybertruck deliveries are reportedly set at 1.20 lakh units. But will such an unconventional EV be able to reach high production volumes without spending the cash? The answer may be the biggest test of Musk's eccentric approach to business.
