The Department of Telecom on Wednesday met representatives of service providers to discuss the growing complaints of call drops and service issues. The meeting was chaired by Telecom Secretary K Rajaraman and was attended by telecom service providers including Bharti Airtel, Reliance Jio, and Vodafone Idea. The discussion in the meeting focused on policy-making and identifying operational measures, which can help telecom companies to improve the quality of telecom services in the country. The issue of problems caused by illegal boosters also came up during the meeting. Also, till the remaining right-of-way issue is resolved. It is learned that in this meeting which lasted for about two hours, the telecom companies made a detailed presentation on the current level and standards of service quality.

700 MHz band to be given for use in RRTS corridorTelecom regulator TRAI has recommended that five MHz of spectrum in the 700 MHz band should be given to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) for use in the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor. The regulator has said that the frequency spectrum to be assigned to NCRTC will be in the 700 MHz bands adjacent to the frequency spectrum assigned to the Indian Railways.
