Tata's CNG Car Tata Motors will unveil its first CNG car on 19 January. With this launch, Tata Motors will be one of the few companies in the country to sell factory fitted CNG cars.

Tata Motors is the first company to unveil the CNG variants of its Tiago and Tigor.

This could include the company's new SUV Tata Punch as well as the Ultras, Nexon. Both Tata Tiago CNG and Tata Tigor CNG are expected to be supported by Tata's 1.2-liter Revotron petrol engine.

This engine generates maximum power of 86hp and peak torque of 113Nm. However, due to CNG, its power output and torque generation may decrease slightly.

According to reports so far, both the models of Tata CNG cars will now come with a manual transmission.

In this case, they will have the option of a 5-speed manual transmission. Later, it can also bring them with automatic transmission.

The rest of the features will be the same as the petrol version. Tata's CNG cars could cost up to Rs 50,000 more than their petrol version.

Currently, the petrol versions of the Tiago and Tigor are priced at Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 5.67 lakh respectively. Tata Motors has now officially announced the launch of their CNG cars.

But bookings for Tigor CNG and Tiago CNG have been going on in the company's showrooms for a long time.

Currently in the Indian market, factory-fit CNG cars are dominated by Maruti Suzuki and Hyundai Motors. Now Tata's CNG cars will give them a tough challenge.

Maruti offers factory fitted CNG kits in S-Presso, Celerio, WagonR, Eeco, Alto and Ertiga. Hyundai's Hyundai Grand i10 and Hyundai Aura also come in CNG versions.
