Growth In Sale: The sale of Electric Vehicles (EV) is gaining momentum. In December 2021, a tremendous growth of 240 percent has been registered in terms of sales in the electric vehicle market. This has been said in a report by JMK Research. According to the report, more than 50,800 electric vehicles have been sold in December 2021. This is 21 percent more than in November 2021, when 42,055 electric vehicles were sold. At the same time, 14,978 electric vehicles were sold in December 2020. Tata Motors and Okinawa have been at the forefront of their respective segments.


Electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers played a big role in the growth
Electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers have played a big role in the impressive growth of electric vehicles in December last year. Electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers accounted for 90.3% of the total electric vehicle sales in December 2021. There has been an almost equal share of both the categories. Two-wheelers accounted for 48.6 percent of total electric vehicle sales in December 2021. At the same time, the share of electric passenger three-wheelers has been 41.7 percent. Electric cars and cargo vehicles accounted for close to 5 and 4.3 percent, respectively.

444 percent growth in sales of electric two-wheelers
24,725 high-speed electric two-wheelers were sold in December 2021. There has been a growth of 444% in sales on a yearly basis and a growth of 10 percent on a monthly basis. The report said that Okinawa has topped in terms of sales in December 2021. Hero Electric came second. Ampere Vehicles and Ather Energy have been ranked third and fourth in terms of sales in December 2021. Talking about electric cars, Tata Motors has been on top. Total 2,522 units were sold in December 2021, with Tata Motors accounting for 93 percent. MG Motors has been at number two.
