OMICRON: The 35th International Surajkund Handicrafts Fair has been postponed amidst increasing cases of Corona. Such orders have been issued by Neeraj Kumar, Managing Director of Haryana Tourism Corporation and Chief Administrator of Surajkund Mela Authority on Thursday. This time the fair was to be organized from February 4 to February 17.

Earlier, Surajkund Mela Authority sent its suggestions to the Central Government and Haryana Government. Haryana Tourism Corporation has issued orders for the decision taken by the Haryana Government on the suggestion of the Central Government. For the past several days, brainstorming was being done regarding the organization of the 35th Surajkund Handicrafts Fair. Haryana Government had sent its suggestions to the Central Government in this regard. The organizer of the fair, Surajkund Mela Authority is headed by the Principal Secretary to the Union Ministry of Tourism and includes the Union Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Culture, Government of Haryana, Haryana Tourism Corporation, and Faridabad District Administration. Finally, in view of the increasing corona infection, the government has postponed the 35th Surajkund Handicrafts Fair.

Folk artists from 30 countries had agreed to come
Foreign craftsmen and folk artists were also invited to the fair. So far, about 30 countries have agreed to send their artists to the fair. This includes SAARC countries and European and African countries. Some other countries were invited to the fair for the first time. About three hundred handicrafts and folk artists from different countries get a chance to mesmerize the tourists with their art at the fair. Whereas about two thousand handicraftsmen and folk artists from their different states were invited to the fair.
