The theft of phones has become a common thing now but many people feel more pain due to loss of data than loss of phone. People keep all kinds of personal data on their phones, and theft increases a lot of trouble. Apple has now become quite serious about stopping this.

Apple is now working on a new feature to prevent data theft from stolen phones which will be called Stolen Device Protection Mode. After the introduction of this feature, both passcode and Face ID will be required to open the stolen iPhone or to view the data.

On the new feature, Apple has said in a statement that the company has been using passcode for data protection for a long time, but now work is going on to make it stronger. This new feature has been released with iOS 17.3 update. iPhone users with this version can take advantage of this security feature.

After this update, if the user's iPhone goes to a place where the user has never been or the user has no connection with that location, then both a passcode and Face ID will be required for the first time to access the iPhone there.

iPhone already has a similar feature called “Lost Mode”. After the phone is stolen, users can turn on this mode by logging into iCloud.

After this mode is turned on, both passcode and FaceID will be required to access the iPhone. If your iPhone also has iOS 17.3, then you can turn on Stolen Device mode by going to Passcode in Settings.
