Often we do not know about many things related to the skin, due to which the skin gets damaged. There is no difference between serum and moisturizer, sunblock and sunscreen. Dermatologist Geetika shares information related to skin and hair care on her Instagram handle. Recently she told me about Skin Care Twins.
Serum VS Moisturizer
Do you know that serum and moisturizer are two different products? Serums are lightweight and concentrated, specially formulated to relieve skin irritations. Therefore it gets easily absorbed into the skin.
The serum is used before applying moisturizer, which provides hydration to the skin. Additionally, moisture is also locked in the skin.
Dry vs. dehydrated Skin
Most people think that there is no difference between dry skin. This is a myth. Dry skin is a type of skin that lacks oil. At the same time, dehydrated skin lacks water. Dry skin is a long-term condition and dehydrated skin can be cured.
Exfoliating VS Scrubbing
Do you also think that exfoliating and scrubbing the skin is the same thing? There is no difference between these two things, but it is not so. Exfoliating the skin means removing dead skin using chemical exfoliants like AHA and BHA. In scrubbing, dead skin is cleaned using beads and brushes.
Toner VS Astringent
A toner is used to balance the pH level of the skin and keep the skin hydrated. Apart from this, toner is also applied to prepare the skin before makeup, so that the makeup blends well on the face. Astringent contains a high amount of alcohol, which is beneficial for oily skin.
Sunblock VS Sunscreen
Sunblock and sunscreen are two different products. Often people get confused between these two. Sunblock works to block UV rays on the skin's surface. Besides, it is also visible on the skin. Zinc and titanium dioxide are found in sunblock. Sunscreen is easily absorbed into the skin and filters UV rays. Sunscreens contain chemical filters.
