Material :
1 cup urad dal soaked in water for an hour, a pinch of asafoetida, salt as per taste, a little fresh coriander

Ingredients of Rasam
1 cup tur dal, 3 cups water, 1 tsp urad dal, 1 tsp mustard seeds, 15-20 curry leaves, 1 green chili finely chopped, 1 tsp ginger paste, 2 tomatoes finely chopped, salt to taste, 1 tsp degi chili powder, 2 tbsp rasam masala, 2 tsp jaggery, 3 tsp tamarind water, some coriander leaves, 1 tbsp oil, 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, 5-6 curry leaves, 2 dry red chilies

Method :
Put pigeon peas, water, and salt in the cooker and give 3-4 whistles. Now heat oil in a pan and add asafoetida.

After this, mix urad dal and mustard and fry on low flame. Then add curry leaves, chopped green chilies, and ginger paste.

After frying for a second or two, add tomatoes, salt as per taste, degi chili powder, rasam masala, and a cup of water and let it boil. Add this to the tadka and mix well.

Now put the vessel containing lentils on the gas and add jaggery, tamarind paste, green coriander and let it boil.

After this, keep a pan on the gas for tempering. Heat 1 tbsp oil in it and add half tsp mustard seeds, 5-6 curry leaves, 2 broken dry red chilies.

Add the prepared tadka to the rasam.
