In astrology, a proper place has been described for lighting a lamp. The lamp should always be kept in front of the idol of God in the temple. If the lamp is of ghee, keep it on your left side. Whereas, the oil lamp should be kept on the right side. The red wick should always be used in oil lamps. Whereas, cotton wick should be used in ghee lamps.
How many wicks are used in aarti
Generally, aarti is performed with five wick lamps. This is called Panchdeep. It is considered best to light Panchdeep at the time of Aarti. But in general, a wick can also be used in daily aarti in homes. By the way, there is a law to perform aarti by lighting one, five, or seven or any odd number of lamps.
