People who ate more unprocessed red meat and processed meat had a higher risk of ischemic heart disease, pneumonia, diverticular disease, colon polyps, and diabetes. While people who consumed more poultry meat had a higher risk of gastro-esophageal reflux disease gastritis, duodenitis, diverticular disease, gall bladder disease, and diabetes. Those consuming 70 grams of unprocessed red meat and processed meat daily had a 15 percent higher risk of heart disease and a 30 percent higher risk of developing diabetes.
