Tomato chutney is a tangy and tangy chutney made from ripe tomatoes, onions, and a mixture of aromatic spices. it can be served with dosa, idli, vada, or any south Indian breakfast dish. Today we are going to tell you about its recipe.
Ingredients:
- 4-5 ripe tomatoes, chopped
- 1 onion, chopped
- 2-3 dry red chilies
- 1 teaspoon urad dal
- 1 tsp chana dal
- 1/2 tsp mustard seeds
- 1/2 tsp cumin
- 1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
- a pinch of asafoetida
- 1 tbsp oil
- salt to taste
- water, as needed
- Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

Instruction:
- Heat oil in a pan on medium heat.
- Add mustard seeds and let them splutter. Then add cumin seeds, fenugreek seeds, urad dal, and chana dal. Fry the dal till it turns golden brown.
- Add dry red chilies and asafoetida. Fry for a few seconds.
- Add chopped onion and fry till it becomes transparent.
- Add chopped tomatoes and salt. Mix well and cook till the tomatoes become soft and mushy.
- Switch off the flame and let the mixture cool down.
- Transfer the cooled tomato mixture to a blender or food processor. Blend it to a uniform consistency. You can add little water if required to get the desired consistency.
- Once blended, pour the chutney back into the pan and heat on low heat. Adjust seasoning if necessary.
- Cook the chutney for a few minutes, stirring occasionally, so that the flavors meld together.
- Switch off the heat and transfer the tomato chutney to a serving bowl.
- Garnish with fresh coriander leaves if desired.
