Ingredients for Makhana Halwa:

2 cups makhana

1/4 cup almonds

15 to 20 cashew pieces

1/2 cup raisins

1/2 cup desi ghee

1 cup milk

Sugar as per taste

Method to make Makhana Halwa:

  • Start by roasting the makhana on low flame to remove the rawness, which will make it easier to crush them into small pieces.
  • Let the makhana cool down.
  • Soak raisins, almonds, and cashews in water for at least 4 to 5 hours.
  • Make a fine paste from these dry fruits. If necessary, you can use the same water as when making the paste, ensuring that the nutrients from the dry fruits remain intact.
  • Grind the roasted makhana coarsely.
  • Heat ghee in a pan.
  • Add dry fruit paste in ghee and fry it lightly.
  • Add crushed makhana to this mixture and keep stirring.
  • Mix the remaining water from soaked dry fruits in milk.
  • Add sugar as per taste.
  • Pour this mixture into the pan and keep stirring the halwa so that there are no lumps or sticking. Keep stirring until the halwa reaches the desired consistency.
  • Your Makhana Halwa is ready. If you want, you can serve it garnished with some pieces of dry fruit.
