Upma is a delicious South Indian dish that makes a healthy breakfast option. It is easy to prepare and can be ready in less than 20 minutes. Today we have brought for you a recipe to make upma at home. Let us know how you have to make it.

Material:

1 cup semolina

1 onion

1/2 tsp mustard seeds

1 green chilli

1.5 cup boiling water

1 small potato

2 tbsp ghee (clarified butter)

10 curry leaves

Salt to taste

Instruction:

First of all, peel the onion and potato separately and chop them finely.

Fry the semolina in a pan on low flame till it turns golden. Once done, take it out in a bowl and keep aside.

Place the same pan on medium flame and add ghee to it. Let the ghee melt.

When the ghee is hot, add mustard seeds, curry leaves, and green chilies. Fry them for a few seconds.

Next, add chopped onion and fry until transparent.

Add chopped potatoes and salt as per taste.

Fry the mixture for a minute and then cover the pan. Let the ingredients cook for some time.

Meanwhile, boil water in a separate saucepan until the potatoes are cooked.

Once the semolina mixture is ready, add boiled water to it and mix well.

Cover the pan and let the upma cook for a minute or two.

Garnish with freshly chopped green coriander.

Serve hot and enjoy your nutritious upma.
