For this, the government started the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana in the year 2018. Under this scheme, the government gives free treatment up to Rs 5 lakh to the beneficiaries. Some documents have to be completed to get Ayushman card made. Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey has announced to link ration card holders in Bihar with Ayushman Yojana. Now lakhs of ration card holders of Bihar will be able to take advantage under Ayushman Yojana.
Ayushman cards will be made for 58 lakh ration card holders
In the year 2018, the central government started the Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana. This scheme has completed 6 years this month. On this occasion, yesterday i.e. on 22 September, Health Minister Mangal Pandey launched the scheme in Bihar's capital Patna. While launching the scheme, he said that 58 lakh ration card holders in Bihar will be added under the Ayushman scheme.
In a ceremony organized at Gyan Bhavan in Patna, Bihar Government's Health Minister Mangal Pandey informed that till now a total amount of Rs 1664 crore has been given to the poor for free treatment under the Ayushman scheme in Bihar. Through this amount, 13,22,000 people have been treated for free.
Ayushman cards will also be made for those above 70 years of age
Taking a big decision, the central government has announced to give benefits under the Ayushman scheme to senior citizens of 70 years of age or above. There are more than 50 lakh people in Bihar of the age of 70 years and above. Health Minister Mangal Pandey has issued guidelines to make Ayushman cards for all these people. So far, Ayushman cards of 1 crore 21 lakh families have been made in Bihar. Bihar is at number three in this matter.
