Raksha Bandhan 2023 Date: The festival of Rakshabandhan, the holiest festival of sister and brother, will be celebrated on the full moon of Sawan, 31 August 2023, on Thursday, Uday Vyapini Purnima. The full moon date is starting from 10.59 am on 30th August and will remain till 7.05 am on 31st August. With this, Bhadra will begin on August 30 with the beginning of the full moon date, which will last till 01:00 pm on August 30, the time of Bhadra is considered prohibited for Rakshabandhan.
There is no law to tie rakhi at night
According to Jyotishacharya Pt. Manoj Kumar Dwivedi, all Hindu scriptures recommend performing Raksha Bandhan after Bhadra is over. That's why the Rakshabandhan festival is not celebrated during Bhadra. Some scholars are advising to celebrate Rakshabandhan after the end of Bhadra at night, which is completely wrong because there is no law to celebrate Rakshabandhan at night. That's why it would be appropriate to celebrate Raksha Bandhan on Udaya Purnima on 31st August. The belief of sunrise lasts till sunset, so the festival of Rakshabandhan will be celebrated throughout the day.
The date on which the sun rises is acceptable throughout the day of the festival. There are only a few works in which Karmakal Vyapini Tithi can be done. However, there is no such compulsion in the festival of Rakshabandhan, so on Thursday, 31st August, sisters can celebrate the festival of Rakshabandhan with great joy and affection by tying rakhi on the wrist of their brothers and feeding them sweets.
