The monsoon season has arrived and the risk of spreading many types of diseases increases in this season. Pregnant women need to take care of themselves, especially in this season. Rainwater contains many types of bacteria and viruses that can cause diseases. Therefore, pregnant women should not consume certain things in this season.
Raw or undercooked food
Do not consume raw or undercooked meat, fish, eggs, and milk products as they may contain bacteria like salmonella and listeria which can cause miscarriage and congenital defects.
Street food
Avoid roadside foods as they are not hygienic and have a high risk of infection.
Leafy greens
In the rainy season, there is a high possibility of insects and bacteria growing in leafy greens. Therefore, wash and clean them thoroughly before consuming them.
Unpasteurized milk and dairy products
Unpasteurized milk and dairy products may contain bacteria called Listeria which can be harmful to pregnant women and their baby.
Also keep these things in mind
Avoid drinking outside water. Wash fruits and vegetables thoroughly before eating. Keep washing your hands frequently. If you have any health problems, consult a doctor.
