On the auspicious occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti on September 17, 2023, the Government of India launched the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana. This scheme has been started especially for the traditional artisans and craftsmen of the country. Under the Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana, the government is providing financial assistance to the artisans and craftsmen of the country. The Government of India has made a budget provision of Rs 13 thousand crore for this scheme. Under this scheme, more than 30 lakh traditional artisans and craftsmen of the country will be benefited. Through this scheme, the Government of India wants to make artisans and craftsmen self-reliant by providing them with skill training, financial assistance, and market links. Under the scheme, a loan facility of up to Rs 3 lakh is also being provided to artisans and craftsmen.

Pradhan Mantri Vishwakarma Yojana benefits goldsmiths, tailors, sculptors, gunsmiths, stone carvers, cobblers/shoemakers, artisans, doll and toy makers, hammer and toolkit makers, fishing net makers and basket/mat/broom makers.

Masons, washermen, boat makers, locksmiths, stone breakers, barbers, garland makers, or blacksmiths can apply for this scheme. The minimum age for application in this scheme has been fixed at 18 years. If you are under 18 years of age. In such a situation, you cannot avail the benefit of this scheme.
