Pind Daan is considered one of the main acts in Hinduism for the peace and liberation of the souls of the ancestors. This year Shradh Paksha i.e. Pind Daan is going to start from 10th September to 25th September.

Yes, the name of the place we are talking about is ' Brahma Kapal '. Brahma Kapal is situated on the banks of the Alaknanda River, just a short distance from Badrinath Temple, where lakhs of people reach every year for Pind Daan. It is believed about this place that by donating Pind, the souls of the ancestors reach heaven directly.

What is the belief of Brahma Kapal?

There are very interesting stories behind the belief of Brahma Kapal. According to mythology, when Lord Shiva cut off the fifth head of Lord Brahma, he fell at this place.

After this incident, when Lord Shiva felt the sin of Brahma Dosh, he went to Lord Vishnu and asked for a solution. After this Lord Vishnu asked him to go to Brahma Kapal and perform Shradh. It is said that when Lord Shiva donated the Pind here, then he got free from Brahma Dosha.

Another belief is that when the Pandavas were on their way to heaven, they performed tarpan for their ancestors at this place.

  • To go here, first, you have to reach Badrinath.
  • The nearest airport to Badrinath is Jolly Grant Airport. From here you can take a local taxi or bus to Badrinath. The distance from the airport to Badrinath is approximately 305 km.
  • If you are going to Badrinath by train then Rishikesh railway station is the nearest. From here you can take a taxi or bus to Badrinath. The distance from Rishikesh railway station to Badrinath is approximately 291 km.
  • If you want to go to Badrinath by bus, then you can also go by bus from cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Rishikesh, Haridwar, Dehradun etc.
