SIM CARD FRAUD: How SIM Fraud happens
1. By social engineering techniques like criminal phishing, vishing, and smishing get the bank account details and registered mobile number of a person.
2. After that the hackers go to the retail outlet of the mobile operator with fake ID proof to block the original SIM and get the original SIM blocked.
3. Then after the verification is done, the customer's SIM is deactivated, then the fake customer is issued a new SIM card.
4. Now through fraud phishing, new SIMs are used for fraud and transactions in the account of the victim.

SIM CARD SWAPPING: HOW CAN SAFETY:
If your number becomes inactive and if bank accounts are connected to that account, then immediately contact your mobile operator.
If you do not want to get into any trouble, then you should keep changing the bank account password from time to time.
Keep email alerts on along with normal SMS alerts. In such a situation, if any funds are withdrawn without your knowledge, you will get an alert via email.
Apart from this, you should always check your bank account statement.
