A PAN card is known as an identity card. It has a permanent number. This number contains a lot of information. The data hidden in these numbers is of great importance to the Income Tax Department.

Because of this, a PAN card is issued to every person by the Income Tax Department. But people having PAN cards do not have this information. After all, what is included in a PAN card and what is the meaning of its permanent account number?

Why is a PAN card special?
PAN card reveals the name and date of birth of the person. The surname is also hidden inside the PAN card number. The fifth digit of the PAN card reveals the surname of the holder. Only the surname of the cardholder remains in the records of the Income Tax Department. Because of this, this data also remains inside the account number, but the Income Tax Department does not disclose this information to the cardholder.

Every 10-digit PAN card has a mixture of numbers and letters, in which the first five characters are letters, then there are 4 character numbers and then the last one is a letter. All the numbers and letters shown on the PAN card have different meanings.

According to the Income Tax Department, the fourth letter shows what you are. P means individual. This is followed by C- Company, H- Hindu Undivided, A- Association of people, B- Body of Individual, T- Trust, L- Local Authority, F- Firm, G- Government Agency, and J- Judicial.
