Advocate Shailendra Mani Tripathi has filed this petition in the Supreme Court. It states that female students and working women should be given leave during menstruation.

A study by the University College of London has also been mentioned in this petition. Let us tell you that in this study it has been told that women feel a lot of pain during their periods. It has also been said in the study that the condition of pain is such that it is equal to the pain in a heart attack of a man. This affects the working capacity of working women.

Many companies give periods of leave

The petitioner has also pointed out that there are many companies which offer paid period leave like Evipinen, Magster, ARC etc. The petitioner said that in the year 2018, Shashi Tharoor introduced the Women's Sexual Reproductive and Menstrual Rights Bill.

It was said that sanitary pads etc. should be made available to women free of cost by the public authority. Let us tell you that the petitioner has also tried to bring out that there is no law for leave at the time of period but UK, Wales, China, Japan, Indonesia, South Korea, Spain And Zambia the holiday for menstruation is given under a different name.

Let us tell you that the Delhi High Court had told the Center and the Delhi government that the PIL filed for menstrual leave should be seen as a representation. Then in the Lok Sabha, the Union Minister had said in a written reply that there is no provision for menstrual leave in the Central Civil Services Leave Rules, 1972.
