Something similar happened in Delhi's AIIMS hospital when the families of two brain-dead people decided for multiple organ donations and the lives of 7 people were saved.

So many organs donated
After approval from the families of both the deceased, 1 heart, 4 kidneys, 2 livers, and 4 corneas were retrieved. All the corneas have been banked at Dr. RP Center of AIIMS. This donation included a 40-year-old deceased woman, whose skin was preserved in a skin band located at the Burn and Plastic Center of the hospital.

After this, all the organs were allotted to the National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization. One liver and one kidney were handed over to AHRR Hospital. One kidney was given to Safdarjung Hospital, while one heart, one liver and two kidneys were transplanted to a needy person in AIIMS itself.

A child's organ donation saved the life
Doctors said that 51-year-old Bacchu, a resident of Bharatpur in Rajasthan, was admitted to Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Center after he met with an accident on the railway track near Palwal in Haryana on January 12, 2024. Had become a victim. Despite all efforts, his life could not be saved, and then on January 24, Bachchu was declared brain dead. This man was a mason by profession, who left behind his wife, 18-year-old daughter, and 17-year-old son.

Maya also donated her organ
The name of the second deceased was revealed to be Maya (40 years), who fell from the terrace while working in Faridabad and was admitted to the trauma center on 23 January but died on 25 January. Family members said that Maya was a religious woman who always believed in helping others.

Dr Aarti Vij, professor in charge of the Organ Retrieval Banking Organization of AIIMS, expressed her deep respect for the selfless decision of the family. He told The Times of India that this work was carried out with the coordination of the treating doctors, transplant coordinators and counselors, neurosurgeons, anesthetists, transplant team, administrators, a dedicated team of the forensic department, brain death certificate, and donor organ management. given. It is noteworthy that 14 organ donations were made at AIIMS Trauma Center last year.
