The central government is running many schemes to increase the income of farmers. Additionally, it provides loans to farmers at concessional rates, but it is necessary to have a Kisan Credit Card (KCC) for this purpose. However, farmers who do not yet have Kisan Credit Card need not worry. The Central Government has started a special campaign under mission mode for making KCC cards. This campaign is known as KCC Saturation Drive, which enables eligible farmers to get loans at affordable rates.

What is Kisan Credit Card (KCC)?

Kisan Credit Card (KCC) is a special scheme of the Central Government. Under this scheme, KCC cards are issued in the name of eligible farmers. These cards allow farmers to obtain loans at a maximum interest rate of 4%. Additionally, if farmers repay the loan on time, they get a 3% subsidy. The unique feature of KCC is that farmers can easily get loans up to Rs 1.6 lakh without giving any guarantee.

Banks will issue cards by 14th November

Farmers who want to start animal husbandry, fisheries, or agriculture-related businesses can avail loans at concessional interest rates under the KCC scheme. States are requested to pay special attention to farmers for these enterprises. However, for animal husbandry and fisheries, farmers can get a loan of only up to Rs 2 lakh instead of the usual Rs 3 lakh. The KCC Saturation Drive campaign started on the 1st of this month and will continue for the entire month. This means that farmers still have a chance to get their KCC card till October 31. If they submit the required documents under the campaign by this date, the banks will issue their KCC cards by November 14.
