Cancer is one of the leading causes of death globally. In India alone, every year eight to nine lakh people die due to various types of cancer. The risk of cancer is increasing further due to disturbances in lifestyle and diet, hence this serious and fatal disease is being diagnosed in children and adults too.

National Cancer Awareness Day is celebrated every year on November 7 to alert people about the increasing risks of cancer in the country and increase awareness about its prevention.

Oncologists say, if cancer is detected on time and its treatment is started, then the risks of the disease taking a serious form and death due to it can be reduced. Let us know about those cancers which are considered to be the most deadly. With the help of which symptoms can these cancers be diagnosed in time?

Lung cancer can be fatal
Lung cancer has been the most common cause of death among Indian men, with an estimated 50,000 deaths every year. One in every 13 men in the country may be at risk of lung cancer. More than 80 percent of lung cancer patients are smokers, which means smoking is one of the major factors of this cancer. Apart from smoking, exposure to air pollution and certain chemicals can also increase the risk of this cancer.

Severe coughing problems that get worse over time, along with shortness of breath (dyspnea), chest pain or discomfort accompanied by wheezing, and coughing up blood can be major symptoms of this cancer.

Colorectal cancer or colon cancer
In India, 5.1 percent of women and 7.2 per 100,000 men respectively in the population may be at risk of colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer cases become fatal because it is often diagnosed at a later stage. If you have a problem with the change in defecation habits for a long time, frequent diarrhea or constipation, rectal bleeding, or blood in the stool, then such symptoms should be taken seriously.

Breast cancer is most common in women
Every four minutes a woman is diagnosed with breast cancer in India. Doctors say, if breast cancer is detected in the early stages, it can be treated with surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy. However, in most women, it is diagnosed in the late stages.

A new lump in the breast or underarm, thickening or swelling of any part of the breast, and redness, or flaky skin in the nipple area or breast can be signs of cancer. These symptoms should be taken seriously.

Prostate cancer in men
Prostate cancer is very common in men, causing thousands of deaths every year. Symptoms like frequent urination, needing to strain to empty the bladder, bleeding in the urine, or pain and burning sensation during urination can be signs of this cancer. If you are facing such problems then it requires serious attention and treatment.
