Last week, there has been a lot of relief due to the reduction in the prices of edible oils in the foreign markets. Due to this, there has been a significant decline in mustard, groundnut, soybean oil-oilseeds and cottonseed, crude palm oil (CPO), and palmolein oil in the oil-oilseeds markets across the country.

There has been no change in the prices of other oilseeds. Traders said the fall in oilseeds prices last week brought much relief from the fall in prices of imported edible oils.

Sources have informed that the wholesale price including the surcharge of mustard oil has reached Rs 135 per liter and if seen in a retail business, the maximum price should be limited to Rs 155-160 per liter.

But in the retail market, mustard oil is available for Rs 175 per liter. He has informed that the new consignment of import of crude palm oil (CPO), palmolein is likely to be cheaper by about Rs 20 per liter from the current weak price.

If the price of new consignments of sunflower oil is also seen, then there are a lot of possibilities to sit 25-30 rupees cheaper than the current price. Sources said that it is being considered cheaper to import edible oil from abroad.

Which is an important reason for the decline in edible oil oilseeds. Sunflower oil, which used to be priced at $2,400 a tonne sometime back, is currently available at $1,550 a tonne, similarly, soybean degum and palmolein are getting lower prices than before.
