Assam State Museum

The Assam State Museum is located in the heart of Guwahati city. It is one of the tourist attractions of this place. This museum was established in the year 1940 by the Kamrup Research Committee. It is said to be one of the largest multipurpose museums in the country. Archives, sculptures and folk art etc. have been displayed in this museum. The rarest and most ancient collections are displayed here which makes this museum unique. The sculptures present here are generally made of stone, metal, wood and terracotta. Digboi Oil Museum

Digboi Oil Museum is located in the city of Digboi. It is symbolic of the fact that the first traces of oil were found in Assam. Digboi Oil Refinery was the first oil refinery in India. This Discovery Well was the first commercially viable well in India and is located close to the museum. This important well was established in the year 1889.
