The festival of KarwaChauth is very special for married women. Women observe fast on this day and worship for the long life of their husbands. This is one of the most difficult fasts. Women observe Nirjala fast for 18 to 20 hours and the fast is broken only after seeing Chandradev in the evening. During this fast, you need to take special care of hydration because even a little carelessness can make you ill. Through some tips, you can keep yourself hydrated during the fast.
How to keep yourself hydrated during fasting?
- Make your hydration plan a day or two in advance. Even if you drink less water on normal days, focus on liquid intake before fasting. Drink 3 to 4 litres of water sip by sip.
- Be sure to consume water while eating sargi. You must take coconut water, lemon water, or fruit smoothie. This will keep the body hydrated and you will also get energy for a long time.
- Include fresh fruits in Sargi, it helps keep you hydrated throughout the day. Apart from this, you should also consume cucumber; this prevents water deficiency in the body.
- Do not eat heavy or oily food items during Sargi, otherwise, it will make you thirsty. It takes more effort for the body to digest heavy things and as a result, you feel thirstier.
- Avoid taking coffee, tea, soda and energy drinks. These are also drinks with diuretic effects which cause dehydration.
