Epilepsy is a disease that occurs due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain. A person suffering from this disease experiences symptoms like sudden fainting and body tremors again and again. During an epileptic attack, the patient should not smell shoes, onions, or any other thing.

Dr. Manjari Tripathi, head of AIIMS Neurology Department, said that in case of an epileptic attack, the patient should immediately be made to lie down on his side in one direction. Remove the cloth from his neck. During a seizure, nothing should be put in the patient's mouth. If the patient is injured, he should be taken to the hospital immediately.

Dr. Manjari said that if a patient has tremors for two minutes during an epileptic attack, then it is normal. A doctor should be contacted if the attack lasts for five minutes or more. To such patients, medicine is given through the nose based on weight.

It is dangerous to leave epilepsy medicine midway
If a patient suffering from epilepsy takes medicine regularly, the disease can be controlled up to 70 percent. The doctor said that leaving the medicine midway can increase the problem. Epilepsy can be cured with timely medicine, proper diet, and yoga. One should stay away from alcohol, loud noise and other places. Approximately one patient for every 100 patients in the country has this disease. Whereas in the world this figure is around six to seven crores.

Causes of epileptic seizures
Dr. Tripathi said that the causes of epileptic seizures can include head injury, congenital disorder, brain tumor or infection, etc. There is no definite cure for epilepsy, but the disease can be controlled with medicines and other treatments.
