Diabetes is a lifestyle disease for which there is no cure. The number of diabetes patients has increased significantly in the last few years. According to WHO, about 422 million people worldwide have diabetes? In India, approximately 77 million people above 18 years of age are suffering from diabetes and about 25 million are prediabetes. This is a disease which can be kept under control only with the right lifestyle and the right eating habits.
Although many types of home remedies are popular to deal with it, today we are giving you information about a chutney that if you include in your diet, your blood sugar level will remain under control. Dietician Loveleen Kaur has shared a post regarding this on her Instagram. Let us know how this chutney is made and how it is beneficial for diabetes patients.
Ingredients for making chutney
- Garlic-3 cloves
- Ginger – 2 inches (Avoid using ginger if you complain of piles)
- Onion - 1/2 small
- Pomegranate seeds – 1 tablespoon
- Fresh curry leaves- 10-12
- Celery leaves – 4 to 5
- Fresh sweet basil leaves – 5 to 6
- Fresh mint leaves – 1 cup
- Fresh coriander- 1 cup
- Green chilli – 2 to 3
- Tomato – 1 small
- salt to taste
- Tamarind
- Raw mango – 1 piece or if mango is not available, 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Grind all these ingredients on a ciabatta until it becomes coarse. If you do not have a ciabatta, you can grind the chutney in a mixer grinder.
How is chutney beneficial in diabetes?
Raw mango, tomato, and pomegranate seeds present in the ingredients of chutney are rich in Vitamin C. Ginger, garlic, onion, coriander are rich in antioxidants. Let us tell you that Vitamin C and antioxidants work to improve blood glucose levels. Coriander leaves present in it can increase insulin secretion and help in reducing blood sugar levels. If diabetic patients eat this chutney, it can be beneficial for them. Apart from this, consumption of this chutney also provides relief from the problem of acidity and constipation.
