A higher refund will be given only if you cancel a confirmed ticket more than 48 hours before the date of travel. After that, the refund will be reduced. Railway charges are levied only on cancellation of confirmed and RAC tickets, which is also known as clerk charge.

What are the ticket cancellation rules?

  • For cancellation of a confirmed ticket less than 48 hours and up to 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train, the cancellation charge is levied at 25% of the total fare paid by you.
  • Wherein 50% of the total fare is charged for cancellation of the confirmed ticket less than 12 hours before the scheduled departure of the train and 4 hours before the scheduled departure of the train.
  • For cancellation of RAC and waiting list tickets, if the ticket is presented for cancellation up to 30 minutes before the scheduled departure of the train, irrespective of the distance, a full refund of fare after deduction of clerical charges per passenger is issued.
  • Since covid, a full refund of fare is given on cancellation of waiting for the ticket by the Railways.

How much is charged on cancellation

  • For AC First and Executive Class – Rs 240 per passenger
  • 200 rupees per passenger for AC-2 tier and first class
  • AC-3 Tier/AC Chair Car, for AC-3 Economy Class – Rs 180 per passenger
  • Rs 120 per passenger for sleeper
  • For the second class, a cancellation fee of Rs 60 per passenger is levied.
