The use of non-stick utensils in cooking has increased a lot these days. Non-stick pots have also taken up space in the kitchen as part of modern cooking. Non-stick utensils are preferred as they are quick to digest and do not burn.

Nonstick pots have a special coating on the top so they do not burn. But not burning food is not safe cooking. Cooking in a nonstick pan is safer for health if you understand the rules of what to do and what not to do in a nonstick pan.

What to do - what to avoid?

1. Nonstick pan should not be used for steering vegetables. This is because steering vegetables requires a lot of gas. Frying vegetables over a high flame is called stir fry. When using nonstick utensils, the gas flame should be kept low. When using nonstick utensils, keeping the gas high affects the coating of the utensils and increases the risk of toxic substances in the coating mixing with the food.

2. Foods that take longer to cook should not be done in nonstick pans. This is because if the nonstick pots are kept on the gas for a long time, the coating on the pots will dissolve. At 500 C the coating of nonstick pots begins to dissolve. Therefore, foods that need to be cooked for a long time should not be cooked in a nonstick pan.

3. Sauce, soup, kheer are made over low heat. This is called slow cooking. Nonstick utensils should not be used in this dish. This is because if the nonstick pan is heated on gas for a long time, the coating will deteriorate and it will mix with the food.

4. Use nonstick griddle and pan to make instant dishes like dosa, dhirde, noodles. Nonstick pots are best used for returning low-time, fast-cooking, boiled vegetables.

5. Food prepared in a nonstick pan should not be kept in it for a long time. They should be removed from the nonstick pan to another pot.

6. Do not add water to nonstick pans while they are very hot. When the utensils are completely cool, add water.

7. When using nonstick frying pan, spoon, invert metal should not be used. Metal spoons scrape the griddle and pan.

8. Non-stick utensils are unsafe for cooking if the coating of the utensils is pale, scratched on the pot, pan, tawa shape is crooked.

9. Bringing nonstick utensils once does not mean a lifetime of work. Changing nonstick utensils every five years is a good idea from a health standpoint.

10. The use of coarse scrubs while washing nonstick utensils can damage the coating. Use hot water and soft scrubs to clean these utensils.
