Sore Throat: It is very common to have sore throat during cold weather. Many people start feeling uneasy due to cough. Not only this, sometimes the condition becomes so bad that pain and swelling in the throat also occurs. Phlegm is a sticky substance that forms in the throat, nose and lungs. Due to accumulation of phlegm, problems like sore throat, cough, difficulty in breathing and chest pain can occur.

When there is a change in temperature due to weather, the body is not able to adjust immediately, due to which cough, cold, fever, sore throat and itching occur. Due to these reasons, phlegm starts increasing in the body. Therefore, before the condition gets worse, it can be cured by adopting some home remedies.

1. Gargle with salt water:

Gargling with salt water is an effective way to get relief from cough. Gargling with salt water loosens the phlegm accumulated in the throat and reduces cough. To gargle, mix one teaspoon salt in a glass of lukewarm water, then gargle with this water. You will get quick relief by gargling 3-4 times a day.

2. Consume turmeric and honey.

Both turmeric and honey help in providing relief from cough. Turmeric has anti-inflammatory properties, which help in reducing phlegm. Honey has anti-bacterial properties, which help prevent infections. To consume turmeric and honey, mix one spoon turmeric powder and one spoon honey in a glass of milk, then heat this milk and drink it.

3. Consume ginger:

Ginger is also the most effective way to get relief from cough. Ginger has anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties, which helps in reducing phlegm. To consume ginger, you can make ginger tea and drink it. Apart from this, you can also eat ginger by crushing or grinding it.

4. Drink decoction of Giloy

Giloy is an Ayurvedic herb which can help in providing relief from cough. Giloy has anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties, which helps in reducing phlegm. To make the decoction of Giloy, boil one spoon of Giloy powder in a cup of water, then filter this decoction and drink it. You can take one cup of this decoction 2-3 times a day.

5. Drink adequate amount of water.

To get relief from cough, it is important to drink adequate amount of water. By drinking water, there is no shortage of water in the body and the phlegm becomes loose and comes out easily. Try to drink lukewarm water. One should drink at least 8-10 glasses of water a day. Along with drinking water, you can also take steam of hot water which is another great way to remove the accumulated phlegm.
