Tips to live 100 years - learn from Singapore

1. Emphasis on walking public transport: According to Dan Buettner, Singapore, with a population of less than 6 million, is special and different from the rest of the world in many ways. There is an emphasis on walking and public transport here. Cars are expensive. There is so much tax on petrol that everyone can't afford a car. There is tremendous greenery everywhere in the entire city. The maximum distance from houses to the metro station is 500 meters. If pollution is less then there is no lung disease. The respiratory system remains strong. People here start their day with exercise. Do go to the park in the morning or evening. People encourage each other to take a walk. This gives good sleep. A healthy lifestyle helps in controlling appetite.

2. Focus on healthy food:

People here are encouraged to eat healthy food rather than processed food. In such a situation, a subsidy is available for nutritious food items. The amount of sugar in sweet drinks is less. The amount of sodium and unhealthy elements in food items is monitored. Good food items are sold by labeling them as healthy food.

3. The health sector is strong:

The health sector here is good. There are more doctors and nurses per thousand population compared to other countries. Hospitals send their nurses and medical staff to visit nearby areas regularly. So that the health level of the elderly is maintained and medicines and other essential items can be delivered to them at the right time. The government also encourages hospitals for this work.

4. Emphasis on being social - no room for loneliness:

Be it youth or old age, loneliness hurts people a lot. Especially in old age, loneliness becomes a disease in itself. Loneliness increases the risk of poor mental health. In such a situation, to increase interaction between everyone, be it teenagers, youth, or women, the architecture of the houses here is such that people remain in contact with their neighbours. There is no room for a communication gap in the society there. People are social. Participate in each other's happiness and sorrow. Here 80% of the population lives in houses built by the government. People often gather and meet each other in parks, food streets, or other places. In such a situation the number of new friends increases. Relationships with old people become stronger.

5. Special exemption on living with parents:

According to this book written on the formula for longevity, one gets a tax exemption of about Rs 18-20 lakh on living with parents in Singapore. In the name of taking care of your parents, if you live near their house, you also get some exemption. In such a situation, the elderly are taken good care of.
