All the festivals in our country have different significance. The practice of celebrating all the festivals of Hinduism differently has been going on for centuries. The main of these festivals is Hariyali Teej which falls in the month of Sawan. This Teej is one of the three most important Teej celebrated by Hindu women in India.

The other two major Teej of these are KajariTeej and HartalikaTeej which take place in the month of Sawan and Bhado. But Hariyali Teej, which falls first, is considered to be the most important. Hariyali Teej date and auspicious time

  • This year Hariyali Teej will be celebrated on Tritiya Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Shravan month. This year Tritiya Tithi will fall on 31st July, Sunday.
  • The auspicious time of Hariyali Teej Puja is from 6:30 am to 8:33 am.
  • The correct time for its worship in PradoshKaal is from 6:33 pm to 8:51 pm.
  • In Hariyali Teej, worship is done during Pradosh period and it has special significance.

Worship method of Hariyali Teej

  • On the day of Hariyali Teej, wake up early in the morning and take bath and prepare for worship by wearing green clothes. On this day it is customary to donate green clothes and green bangles to the elders of the house.
  • If you observe Hariyali Teej fast, then take a vow of fasting while meditating on Lord Shiva and MataParvati. Even if you are not able to keep fast, it is especially fruitful if you worship Goddess Parvati and Shiva with reverence on this day.
  • Worship the Shivling with Belpatra, Datura, white flowers etc. and offer vermilion to Goddess Parvati and make-up items.
  • Worshipping MataParvati, praying for the long life of your sweetheart, observe fast and worship.
  • Observe the fast for the whole day and take fruits.

Importance of Hariyali Teej

The day of Hariyali Teej is considered to be the main for the worship of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. It is believed that on this day Lord Shiva accepted Mother Parvati as his wife. For this reason, this fast is especially special for married women. This fast also has special significance for unmarried girls because due to the effect of this fast, they get a good husband.

Thus Hariyali Teej has special significance and should be worshipped with full devotion on this day.
