At the beginning of the year, many changes will be seen in the technology world. Google is all set to release its Chrome 110 on February 7, 2023, this year. With this new release, the company will end its support for older versions of Chrome. Its information is available on Google's support page, according to which Chrome 109 is the last version of Chrome to support two older Microsoft operating systems - Windows 7 and Windows 8.1.
Chrome will not work from January 15
Google will end support for older versions of Chrome by January 15, 2023. So the new version of Chrome i.e. Chrome 110 will be the first version of Chrome, which will require Windows 10 or a later version. Users will be able to use older versions of Chrome in Windows 7 and Windows 8.1, but won't get any new updates, including security fixes.
The system needs to be upgraded
According to the tech giant, users will need to upgrade their systems with Windows 10 or 11 OS to continue using the cross-platform web browser Chrome. To continue to receive future Chrome releases, you must ensure that your device is running Windows 10 or later.
Notably, older versions of Chrome will continue to work, but there will be no further updates for users on Windows 7 and Windows 8/8.1 in these operating systems. Users are advised to upgrade to the latest Windows as security updates are essential for the OS.
Why update Chrome?
Google had earlier planned to release the updated Chrome version 110 in July 2021, but due to a pandemic, the company postponed the release. Updating the web browser with the latest Windows OS brings the latest security updates done by Chrome and will help in achieving improvement.
