The central and state governments in the country are running many wonderful schemes for the farmers. In this context, the Agriculture Department of Uttar Pradesh is starting a good initiative to provide accurate weather information to the farmers in every village.
What is the plan?
In Uttar Pradesh, there is a plan to install automatic weather stations and automatic rain gauges to provide accurate weather information to the farmers in every village. Under the scheme, preparations are being made to establish it in 55,570 gram panchayats and 308 blocks left by the Meteorological and Revenue Department. This initiative has been started by the Agriculture Department. Under this scheme, with the help of the Central Government, the Agriculture Department of the State Government will install automatic weather stations and automatic rain gauges in gram panchayats and blocks.
Under the Central Government's WINDS i.e. Weather Information Network Data System scheme, a plan is being made to install a weather system in the Gram Panchayat. Under the Government's Winds Scheme, a target has been set to install automatic rain gauges in all the development blocks and gram panchayats of the state. The selection work for installing these in gram panchayats and blocks has started.
How will farmers get the benefit?
Farmers will get direct benefits from this scheme. By getting information about the weather, they will be able to cultivate better and appropriate crops. Weather forecasts will enable farmers to do good financial planning and risk management regarding crops. Apart from this, farmers will be able to make better preparations for insurance, loans, and other aspects related to farming by keeping the weather conditions in mind.
Under the Winds Scheme, the responsibility of maintaining the automatic weather stations and automatic rain gauges that will be installed in the Gram Panchayat and Development Block will be of the Panchayat Sevak.
At which places will weather stations be installed?
An automatic weather station will be installed in the development block office. Automatic rain gauges will be installed on the roofs of Panchayat buildings.
